Oyigbo people declare total support for the re-election of Wike

The people of the highly populated Oyigbo Local Government Area have endorsed the re-election of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, saying that they will overwhelmingly vote him and other PDP candidates.

The Oyigbo leaders and stakeholders made their position known at the PDP Campaign Rally at Town School Playground, Oyigbo on Monday.

PDP Candidate for Eleme/Tai/Oyigbo Federal Constituency, Hon Chisom Promise Dike thanked the Rivers State Governor for addressing the 20-year long injustice against Oyigbo for allowing Oyigbo to produce a candidate for the Federal Constituency.

He commended Governor Wike for his commitment to youth empowerment through strategic political and economic placement. He stated that the people will cast their votes in favour of Governor Wike and other PDP candidates.

Oyigbo Local Government Area PDP Chairman, Mr Uchenna Okija said that Oyigbo people are happy with the completion of the Oyigbo-camp Mbano Road and the Eleme-Oyigbo Road which have improved the economy of the area.

He expressed gratitude to the Rivers State Governor for the appointment of Ambassador Desmond Akawor as Sole Administrator of Greater Port Harcourt City Development Authority and facilitating the nomination of Chisom Dike as the PDP Candidate for Eleme/Tai/Oyigbo Federal Constituency. He noted that people will vote the governor in appreciation of his developmental strides.

Chairman of Oyigbo Local Government Area, Prince Gerald Oforji said that the people of Oyigbo will re-elect Governor Wike and vote other PDP candidates in appreciation of the Rivers State Governor’s outstanding performance .

Director General of Rivers State PDP Campaign Council, Ambassador Desmond Akawor said the Oyigbo people are at the Campaign Rally to make a bold statement of voting PDP candidates.

He commended Governor Wike for recovering the State Power plants sold by the Minister of Transportation to destroy the economy of Oyigbo. He said that the people reward Governor Wike with their votes.

Former Member Representing Oyigbo State Constituency, Prince Felix Nwaeke said with the unity of Oyigbo leaders the votes for PDP will be overwhelming.

In her remarks, Commissioner of Commerce and Industry, Mrs Nancy Nwankwo thanked Governor Wike for his gender-mainstreaming in his administration. He said that Governor Wike has broken the yoke of women participation in government.

Responding, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike assured Oyigbo people that he will consolidate on the gains of his key projects in the area during his second term.

He announced that during his second term he will construct a Zonal Tertiary Hospital at Oyigbo and construct the internal roads of the area.

“The time of Oyigbo has come. This is your time for more key projects. During our second term, we will construct a Zonal Tertiary Hospital in Oyigbo and develop your internal roads “, he said.

He thanked Oyigbo people for rejecting APC which abandoned them for eight years. He said the APC has nothing more to offer Oyigbo judging from the way they abandoned the state road in the area.

Governor Wike urged the people to defend their votes and ensure that nobody hijacks their mandate.

“All our quest at development can only be actualized if we secure our mandate. It is on this not that I urge you to defend your votes during the 2019 General elections.

“You must be prepared to stop them from stealing your votes”, he said.

Governor Wike urged the people to massively vote for Atiku Abubakar as the surest way to economic recovery and job creation.

Rivers State PDP Chairman, Bro Felix Obuah presented PDP Rivers South-East Senatorial District, Hon Barry Mpigi, PDP Candidate for Eleme/Tai/Oyigbo Federal Constituency, Hon Chisom Promise Dike and PDP Candidate for Oyigbo State Constituency, Prof Onyee Nwankpa to the Oyigbo and asked them to overwhelmingly vote them.
