The Governor of Abia State and Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party in the State; Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, Ph.D, has resolved whatever misunderstanding that had appeared to have existed between the State Chairman of PDP in the State, Sir Johnson Onuigbo and some Members of the State Executive Committee of the Party.
In a meeting held at the instance of the Governor last night at Government House, Umuahia and attended by all Members of the State Executive Committee of the Party, the Deputy Governor of the State; Rt Hon Ude Oko Chukwu, a Member of Board of Trustees of the Party and former Deputy Governor of the State, Chief Acho Nwakanma and many other prominent stakeholders in the Party, the Governor, after patiently and carefully listening to spokespersons for members of the State Executive Committee who had expressed grievances against the Chairman and Sir Johnson Onuigbo, admonished both sides to appreciate that affairs of the Party are best treated internally within the PDP family.
The Governor reminded members of the State Executive Committee that PDP in Abia State has been the envy of other state chapters, in terms of internal peaceful coexistence and harmony.
The Governor stated that every action has its suitable time and, therefore, cautioned that the time in which we are now demands for unity, mutual understanding and co-operation.
He noted issues raised by both sides but urged all to put the collective interest of the Party first, especially now that the Party is preparing for elections.
At the end of the reconciliation meeting, the Chairman; Sir Onuigbo, the Vice Chairman of the Party in Abia-North, Hon Mathew Ibe, an Ex-Officio Member of the Party, Chief Chijioke Akanwa and the Publicity Secretary of the Party, Sir Don Ubani, thanked the Governor for his prompt intervention and resolution of the matter and assured him that the Party will work harmoniously and dedicatedly to make sure the Governor and all candidates of the Party win their elections next year clearly and convincingly in the State.
