Kano State governor Abdullahi Ganduje has called on aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to shelve their differences.
The governor urged the Kwankwasiyya Faction to join the leadership of the new Party Chairman Abdullahi Abbas and other newly elected members of the party for the development of the state.
In a statement signed by the Commissioner of Information Muhammad Garba, Ganduje said the successful party congress held on Saturday is a clear testimony that the APC is a party not union.
“It is my pleasure to announce to all Kwankwasiyya faction that Abdullahi Abbas has won the state party congress with 2,982 votes while Ibrahim Zakari Sarina emerged as the new party secretary with 2,817 votes. Habibba ‘Yar’dada became woman leader with 2,876 votes,” he said.
Ganduje welcomed those who returned to the new leadership fold. He added that was ready to accept other members from Kwankwasiyya faction.
“We all belong to the same state and the same country, that we are all proud of. They should come to us so that we forge ahead collectively for nation-building.”
The governor further assured that no member of the party would be discriminated against under the new leadership of the APC in the state.
He stressed that with this newly inaugurated leadership in place, there will be no imposition of candidates.
Governor Ganduje had earlier sued for peace after he intervened in the crisis affecting the state House of Assembly. This was after heavily armed policemen sealed the complex of the Assembly on Monday, May 14.
He held a reconciliation meeting with the feuding factions on Tuesday at the Government House.
