Christians have been urged to see the harvest period as a time of appreciation to God for His protection and bountiful blessings bestowed on His people.
The Deputy Governor of Abia State , Sir Ude Oko Chukwu who stated this during the 2017 Annual Harvest thanksgiving service of the St Andrew’s Anglican Church, Isiama Afaraukwu, Ibeku, Umuahia, pointed out that harvest time calls for deep appreciation to God for the privilege of witnessing another demonstration of Gods goodness and mercy.
Sir Oko Chukwu reiterated government’s commitment in partnering with the Church to sustain the prayers of intercession on the state which he noted has contributed immensely to the growth and peace prevalent in the state and urged them not relent in upholding Abians and the present administration under the leadership of Dr Okezie Ikpeazu in prayers.
He commended the Priest and members of st Andrews Anglican church , Isiama Afara -Ukwu Ibeku for working tirelessly in ensuring the propagation of the gospel as well as the advancement of the church and reassured them that he would always identify with whatever project that would help uplift the spiritual and physical needs of the people and the Church.
Earlier in his sermon, the Vicar in Charge of the Parish, the Venerable David Nwanheolewho described the theme of this year’s theme ” Harvest of Thanksgiving” as very timely and stressed the need for Christians to acknowledge God’s goodness in every aspect of their life endeavours and reassured that the blessings of God is real and adds no sorrow.
The event featured cutting of cakes and a special offering with proceeds from their farms and special prayers.
