A former governorship candidate of the Labour Party in
Rivers State, Prince Tonye Princewill, has said he does not join the All
Progressives Congress to become the next governor of the state.

Princewill said he moved from the Labour Congress to the APC
to rebuild the party in the state and make it stronger to win the 2019 general
elections in the state.
Speaking with newsmen in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, he
maintained that with him in the APC, Governor Nyesom Wike would be on his toes.
 Princewill said, “I
moved to the APC because of my love for Rivers State. I was able to join the
APC to strengthen the party and make it move forward. When we express our
displeasure about the state, it is not political; it is borne out of the love
we have for the state.
“Wike has successfully convinced Rivers people that their
problem is the APC. He said a lot of things to disparage the party. That is the
reason why we are in the APC to correct all these.
 “I was very angry
with the APC that I did not want to do anything with them. But in spite of the
anger with the APC, I have to join the party to put Wike on his toes. I did not
join the APC for any governorship ambition. I am no longer interested in the
governorship race.”
The former governorship candidate added that it was wrong to
describe the misunderstanding among members of the party as a crisis.
