Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River state has issued riot act to workers to either resume work on June 28th 2017 or forgo their salaries.
Governor Ayade through the Commissioner for Information and orientation Mrs RoseMary Effiom Archibong said government will not fail to enforce the law of no work no pay.
In a press release signed by Archibong, she said sequel to the ongoing strike action and refusal of the Labour to call off the action despite the fact that Government had fulfilled the demands presented for resolution, Governor Ben Ayade had directed no work no pay clause to be invoked.
The Governor according to Mrs Archibong has directed all Commissioners and Heads of MDAs to ensure that all Government offices are open for business on Wed 28th June, 2017.
The Governor further directed all Commissioners and Heads of MDAs to obtain the technical or appropriate services that they may require recruitment, procurement or outsourcing.
According to her, the Governor has directed that effective Wed 28th June 2017, all Ministries and Departments must be functional and Commissioners/Heads shall be held responsible if otherwise.
“The State Government has a responsibility to keep the wheels of Government machinery turning in the best interest of the generality of Cross Riverians.
“Once more, we hereby reiterate, that the no work no pay clause has been invoked. Please be guided”, the commissioner stated”.
Meanwhile, Governor Ben Ayade has approved the appointment of Mr. Effiong Ita Umoh as Special Adviser on Labour matters.
He said the appointment was with immediate effect. Mr. Umoh until now was the Special Assistant to the Governor on Labour Matters.
