The Chairman of the Capital Oil and Gas Industries Ltd. Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, has commiserated with Rev. Fr. Theophilus Odukwe of the Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha over the death of his mother, Ezinne Veronica Ifeoma Odukwe, at the age of 91.
Ubah, who is also The Publisher of The AUTHORITY Newspapers, was at the Egbema Ozubulu country home of the Odukwes on Tuesday, in the company of eminent politicians and business associates for the burial of the deceased.
He urged Fr. Odukwe and his siblings to take solace in the fact that their mother lived a decent Christian life, and that there is the hope that she is in the bosom of God Almighty.
He said: “Ezinne Veronica Odukwe is a good Christian and a silent giver. She lived for others. She practised silent charity and lived for others. She helped to reduce the suffering of humanity by practicing charity.
There is no doubt, therefore, that she is presently resting in the bosom of the Lord. That should be our solace.
“Mama gave birth to so many eminent individuals who are capable of sustaining her patrimony.
Therefore, we should cry but like Christians that have hope,” he said.
He urged the Odukwe family to keep the legacies of their late mother by believing in what she lived for and by living out what she believed in.
Similarly, the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, Anambra State, has condoled with the family of the deceased and urged the family members to emulate the good qualities in the life of their mother.
Speaking with The AUTHORITY through its Anambra State Chairman, Prof. Emejulu Kennedy, during the funeral ceremony, the NMA urged the deceased’s family not to cry like people who have no hope.
“The death of Ezinne Veronica Odukwe is a loss that affects all of us. We feel sad. However, as Christians, we believe that mama has joined the choir of Angels in heaven,” he said.
Kennedy, who is also a Professor of Neurosurgeon at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, urged the family of the deceased to see the demise of their matriarch as a unifying factor that would bind the family together.
