The Leadership of the Assemblies of God Church has urged its members to discountenance as untrue the rumour being allegedly peddled by the suspended General Superintendent of the Church, Rev. Paul Emeka that the Supreme Court judgement would come to his favour.

In a press statement jointly signed by the four officers of the Church, Rev. Dr. Chidi Okoroafor, General Superintendent, Rev. Ejikeme Ejim, Assistant General Superintendent, Rev. Godwin Amaowoh, General Secretary, Rev. Vincent Alaje, General Treasuer, over the weekend, the Church said it had absolute confidence on the judiciary as the last hope of the common man.
Fears were raised earlier that the Church may not get justice, owing to the alleged ties between one of the parties in the case and a Supreme Court judge.

It was rumoured that the said Person and Rev Paul Emeka are both from Enugu North Senatorial Zone of Enugu State,a factor that may affect the Judgement of the Supreme Court and this has caused some Members of the Church to raise eye Brows

However, the Church leaders dispelled the rumours, insisting that there was no cause for alarm as the Justices of the Supreme Court would never allow themselves to be used to pervert justice.
“We are calling on all our Church members to remain calm and prayerful in the midst of any form of rumour and provocation.
“We are aware of the rumour and boastings being peddled around by our detractors but we ask our members to dismiss it as it would not have any effect on the judgement.

“It has been said in several quarters that those fighting the Church of God have already asked their followers to be celebrating ahead of the February24, 2017 judgement of the Supreme Court, but the Church remains unshakeable in its trust on the judiciary and the Almighty God.

“The good Lord has been on our side ever since this matter commenced; the Church has grown tremendously from strength to strength and for this reason, we are firm in our believe that He will not allow His Church to be destroyed”, the Church leaders stated.

On reported reconciliation moves, the Church leaders advised Emeka to toe the proper channels if indeed he was sincere about giving peace a chance in the Church.

“The Assemblies of God Church has her arms wide open for any peace move, but we are yet to see any such genuine move from Paul Emeka or anybody else, anytime he comes through the appropriate channel, we are ready to hear what he has to say.”
It could be re-called that the Church’s General Council had on the 6th of March, 2014 suspended Rev. Paul Emeka for violating several sections of the Constitution and Bye Laws of the Church, especially Article 12, which deals with taking or using any other person to drag the church to court for any reason.

The Supreme Court has fixed February 24 for judgement in the leadership crisis rocking the Assemblies of God Church.
