The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the Ondo State governorship election, Eyitayo Jegede (SAN), has expressed confidence that he will win the election despite the odds against him.
Jegede condemned alleged plans to disenfranchise his supporters in the Ondo Central Senatorial District, which is believed to be the PDP’s stronghold in the state.
The PDP candidate spoke shortly after voting at Ward 2, Unit 9 by 11.46am in Akure, the state capital.
After casting his vote, Jegede and his wife, Eno, sat at the polling unit while acknowledging cheers from the voters.
He asked his supporters not to leave their polling units after casting their votes in order to protect their votes.
Scores of his supporters were disappointed when he refused to dole out money despite their pleas.
Addressing journalists shortly after voting, he said, “I give glory to God for being able to contest this election. The agenda of disenfranchising indigenes at the Ondo Central Senatorial District or some areas where we (PDP) have strength will not stand.
We called for the postponement of the election, they said no. We have moved on. I struggled and overcame all the travails. By the grace of God, I will be victorious.”
