The Independent
Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has
summoned four principal officers of the Institute of Management and Technology
(IMT) over alleged  N113 million fraud.

The ICPC had reportedly directed the Rector of the
institution and other principal officers to refund the N40,000 collected from
each student for hostel accommodation but the money was not refunded.
Following the non-compliance of the directive, the Anti-Graft
Crusaders of Nigeria in Tertiary Institutes, IMT chapter, wrote the ICPC in a
petition entitled ‘Re: Report of massive abuse of office, fraudulent practices,
graft and gratification in contravention of ICPC Act (against) the Rector and
Registrar IMT, Enugu’.
Sequel to the petition, the ICPC in a letter dated October
14, entitled ‘Investigation activities – letter of invitation,’ asked the
Rector of the institution to release the affected officers to the commission
for investigation, Vanguard reports.
Those invited by the Commission includes the Registrar, Head
of Agricultural Department, Head of Final Account and the Chief Engineer of the
institution.
The letter reads: “The Commission is investigating a
case that borders on violation of the ICPC Act, 2000.
“Pursuant to Section 28 of the cited Act, you are
required to release the following officers of the Institute to appear before
the undersigned at the Commission’s Headquarters on dates indicated against
their names:

“Mr. Sylvanus Asogwa (Registrar) and HOD Agriculture,
October 26; while the Head of Final Account, Mr Collins Ossai and Chief
Engineer, Engr. Luke Mmamel, will appear on October 27.”
