The People’s Democratic Party in Ondo State on Tuesday accused the All Progressives Congress of making fake army uniforms as parts of its plots to rig the November 26, governorship election.

The PDP also said the APC and another opposition party were now buying Permanent Voter Cards from the electorates across the 18 local government areas of the state ahead of the forthcoming poll.

The party, in a statement issued in Akure on Tuesday by its Director of Publicity, Mr. Ayo Fadaka, said it had uncovered the plan of the opposition parties in the state to flood the state with thugs in fake army uniforms with the aim to  intimidate the voters and rig the election.

However, the APC denied the allegations, saying the PDP was using the allegation to divert the attention of the people of the state from its alleged plan to rig the governorship election.

The Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mr. Abayomi Adesanya, alleged that the PDP had created some camps across the state where some youths were being trained to cause violence during the election.

Adesanya said, “ What they are alleging is what they are doing currently. We have our facts that they have bought fake army uniforms and we also have evidence that they have camps in Akure and some other places in the state where they secretly camp and train some thugs who they want to use to rig the election.

“On the buying of PVCs, we are aware that one of the PDP women leaders in Akure North Local Government and a Special Assistant to (Governor Olusegun) Mimiko and some leaders are currently buying the voter cards from the people of the area. We are not doing that, it is they (the PDP) that are involve in the illegal activities. We are law abiding in the APC.”
