Ikoiwak stated this when he received the Police authority in his office in Port Harcourt.
He said reports that he had connived with a particular political party were untrue.
The REC while answering questions from newsmen assured that a new date would soon be fixed for the conclusion of the re-run election.
Ikoiwak said consultations were still on to ensure that permanent peace returned to Rivers State.
According to him, “You will recall that the date to conclude the re-run election was announced after a national stakeholders meeting held in Abuja, on July 30th and they were very clear that it was tentative.
“There was a template for us to follow that will make us conduct a violence-free election. And we announced that template clearly to the politicians. So few weeks to the election, we discovered that that template was not rightly followed.
“We had signed an undertaking but some politicians did not sign. These and other moves were not duly followed and then the commission thought that not meeting the set goals before the election may take us back. So, we decided that the election be shifted to give more time for the peace moves to continue.
“On the allegations of comprise, I have always looked at the issue as a distraction because from the day I entered this, I started reading from the papers that I am in the state to do the bidding of one political party. But we conducted elections and declared results and we all saw those that won the election. The same this is playing out again but my responsiblity is to conduct elections, free and credible elections. I will not be swayed.”
