Wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, visited injured soldiers in Kaduna on Wednesday and urged authorities of the Nigerian Army to ensure the prompt payment of the entitlements of soldiers who fought and lost their lives in the fight against Boko Haram.
She said the prompt payment of entitlements to family of deceased soldiers would cushion the effects of the loss of their beloved ones.
The President’s wife stated this when she visited the 44 Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna to see soldiers that were wounded while fighting Boko Haram.
She commended the wounded soldiers for their gallantry in the protection of the nation’s territorial integrity, especially in ensuring that peace was restored in the troubled North-east and assured them that their efforts in keeping the country united would not be in vain.
“I want to urge the Nigerian Army to hasten in paying the benefits of the deceased soldiers as a way of providing succcur to their families,” she said.
She also commended the management of the hospital for taken good care of the wounded, saying that with what she saw at the various wards where the soldiers were on admission, “they are being taken care of by the government”.
Many of the soldiers who sustained varying degrees of injuries were receiving medical attention in the hospital.
She was accompanied by the President of the Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association and wife of the Chief of Army Staff, Kalsum Buratai, and wives of other top military officers.
Journalists were not allowed into wards to ascertain the state of the soldiers and how many of the wounded soldiers were on admission in the hospital.
